Recovery Kit: recover your identity and unique nickname.
When you create your ChAPPover account you choose a unique nickname, linked to your identity. If you change, lose or replace your phone, the Recovery Kit lets you recover the same identity instead of creating a new account and losing your nickname.
Recovery with the Kit
Save the QR code or the Recovery Kit code in a safe place. On a new phone, choose «Recover identity with QR code» or use the Kit from the clipboard.
Optional phone number
Entering a phone number is not mandatory. It is not used to authenticate you or to recover your identity: that requires the Recovery Kit.
Keep the Kit like a private key.

Anyone who obtains it could recover your account. Do not publish it, do not send it in a chat and do not share screenshots of it. Recovery does not automatically restore saved files or conversations kept only on devices.
Sharing without artificial barriers

Exchange large files directly between users. chAPP_over does not set a fixed cap in MB or GB on the files you can send.
The success and speed of a transfer still depend on the connection, available storage, the devices and any limits of the operating system or browser.

chAPP_over also lets you connect to IRC (Internet Relay Chat) networks, a communication system based on servers and topic channels.
Connect to a server
Set up an IRC connection using the parameters of the chosen network. The server may be run by a party other than chAPP_over.
Join channels
Take part in conversations in the channels available on the network, to meet people with shared interests and exchange messages.
IRC identity
Use the nickname required by the network; access, registration and moderation rules depend on the selected server and channel.
